A Caution About Reputation Management Platforms
Google has recently announced that they are beginning to “crackdown” on reputation management platforms that use what’s called a gateway for reviews. A review gateway is a system that sends flat or negative reviews to the business owner first prior to posting them online.
While this kind of system is nice because it allows the business owner to provide some service recovery rather than having a negative review gets posted, Google says they will soon penalize businesses that use review gateways. It’s unclear what this penalty might look like, but experts generally think that the business using this system will lose a large portion of their reviews.
