Make It Loud Research

Original research on small business marketing, search visibility, consumer behavior, and AI.

Small businesses are making marketing decisions in an environment that changes faster than most owners can realistically track. Google search keeps evolving, AI platforms are becoming part of the customer research process, reviews shape buying decisions, and traditional rankings no longer tell the whole story. Businesses need to understand not only whether they are visible, but whether they are trusted, mentioned, cited, and recommended.

Make It Loud conducts original research to help small business owners, marketing professionals, journalists, and industry leaders understand these changes. We combine public datasets, proprietary analysis, consumer reviews, search data, surveys, and firsthand marketing experience to identify patterns businesses can actually use.

Why we conduct original research

Most marketing content repeats information published elsewhere. We take a different approach, because many important questions facing small businesses cannot be answered with generic advice: How are customers actually evaluating local businesses? Do companies that rank well in Google also appear in AI search? What makes a company more likely to be cited? Which marketing signals matter most?

Each project begins with a practical business question, and we hold every study to the same standard. Findings should be credible, relevant, understandable, actionable, transparent, and useful to a defined audience. We separate direct findings from interpretation, label estimates as estimates, and acknowledge limitations rather than overstating what the evidence proves.

The AI Search Readiness Study

How prepared are small businesses to be discovered, understood, and recommended by AI? A business can rank well in traditional search and still be absent from answers produced by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. This study examines the signals that influence whether a business is recognized, associated with the right services, and cited in AI-generated recommendations.

The 2026 North Atlanta Google Business Profile Sentiment Report

An analysis of 46,656 Google reviews across 60 North Atlanta businesses in six industries. One key lesson: the gap between a strong and weak reputation does not always come down to technical service quality. Communication, expectation management, and how problems are handled can matter just as much.

How research supports our services

Research is part of our authority strategy, but it does not replace the marketing services businesses need to generate leads. It strengthens them. Original research creates distinctive content and citable statistics for SEO, gives AI systems clearer facts and named findings for AI Search Optimization, and provides something valuable to publish and promote through our Authority Marketing System.

It also strengthens website design by requiring pages that present reports and data clearly, and supports Google Ads and lead generation by improving landing page credibility and messaging. One substantial study can become an executive summary, press release, data charts, supporting articles, and more, all connected to a single central idea.
